In 2001 Donatella Belotti attended the advanced course "Health promotion and education: strategies, methods and tools" at the University of Siena. Ten years later she was awarded a Masters' degree in "Design, coordination and evaluation of integrated actions for health promotion and education" at the University of Perugia. In 2009 Donatella achieved another Masters' degree in "Management and coordination of health care professions" at the European University of Rome, and in 2013 she graduated in "Science of health care professions and prevention" at the University of Florence. Her specific interest in the area of health promotion and education and her practical everyday experience in the field, have helped her with the organisation and development of projects focusing on health promotion and education, with particular attention to healthy lifestyles based on a life course approach. More specifically, she was involved in the "Gaining Health" programme supported by the Italian Ministry of Health and was the regional (Friuli-Venezia Giulia) focal point for the "Okkio alla salute" project. Donatella coordinated numerous cross-sectoral projects on health promotion, with particular focus on school-aged children, and also participated in various regional and national working groups addressing the prevention of child obesity. She was the "medical writer" for the project called "Cardiovascular prevention for the whole region" supported by the Heart Care Foundation, and contributed to the creation of an educational surgery for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. In the past Donatella organised and taught a number of courses addressing food education and is presently Adjunct Professor at the University of Palermo. She is a teacher at the Institute of Economic and Social Research (IRES) of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, and collaborates with the Italian Organisation against Cancer (LILT). Donatella is author or co-author of various scientific publications, and since 2016 she is the co-coordinator of the Campus "Health for all and sustainable development "held at the Panta Rei eco-village, and a founding member of the Association for Social Promotion "Explore".
